Matt Hazard made his return to the gaming scene last year in the aptly titled Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard that came out on the home consoles. Unfortunately many people missed the point of the game entirely. Eat Lead was a game with a stereotypical video game action hero taking on stereotypical gaming clichés. It was done as both a satire and homage to those games. The bigger problem was that nobody ..read more
Airtight Games and Capcom are taking a huge risk making a game that revolves around Aerial Combat. We all know how the Superman series has worked out. On the flip side, there are many games that do get flying right. We hope Dark Void is going to be one of the latter.
The demo started us out with a quick cutscene that provided absolutely no background to the story minus how the protagonist finds his ..read more
Capcom Unity ran their playtest event for Super Street Fighter IV last night.
Players got to try out some of the new cast, as well as seeing what tweaks have been made to existing characters. The build being played yesterday was the one with the 4 blank character slots, so anyone worried about the recent post-famitsu stream pic with those 4 blank slots removed can now calm down.
Some of the new ultras were tested out by the community and uploaded to ..read more
To be honest, we here at SmashPad are not big fans of the whole Game of the Year concept that every site uses when the end of the year arrives. Rather than getting together to discuss and/or argue about what games should or shouldn’t win the many categories we could come up with so we can find a way to give smaller games a shot at winning something, we decided to just highlight our favorite games of the year by ..read more
Well, according to IGN the release date for Super Street Fighter IV will be March 31st 2010.
This has since been reflected on Amazon and Newegg, although no one really knows if they’re just taking IGN’s word for it.
The game is being listed at $39.99 for both PS3 and XBox 360 on Amazon.com. On Amazon.co.uk the pricing is coming in at £24.99 for PS3 and £29.99 for 360.
Hopefully that is remedied, seems a bit crap to be paying a fiver more ..read more
While the folks at EA have tried their hand at an arcade football game for a while now, but it has taken until now that they captured the Blitz style of simplicity. Madden NFL Arcade is a much more simple game overall than recent Maddens have been and that makes for an arcadey experience that can really be a lot of fun in multiplayer.
Madden NFL Arcade does trim down what you expect from the traditional NFL experience that football fans ..read more
When Assassin’s Creed released back in 2007, fans got to taste just a sample of the possibilities that Ubisoft imagined. With amazing visuals, stunning locations and gameplay that revolutionized how we play and imagine games today, Assassin’s Creed proved to be more popular than anyone imagined. How exactly would Ubisoft be able to top that monstrous effort? By making the sequel bigger, bolder and an all-around better game than its predecessor, which is exactly what Assassin’s Creed 2 is.

PopCap Games is known for making easy to pick up and play games that are very difficult to stop playing. Square Enix is a company known for making long character-driven RPGs with epic albeit somewhat clichéd storylines. Putting these two companies together on a project could yield one of the most addicting games ever created, or a muddled mess of blandness. In the case of Gyromancer the latter turns out to be the case.
At its heart Gyromancer ..read more
With Peggle’s release on PSN recently, PopCap Games finally dropped the Peggle Nights expansion on both PSN and XBLA to let players add more levels to their games. Peggle Nights features an interesting take on the adventure mode along with more challenges to test your skills even further.
To take a quick detour, the reason this isn’t a review of the PSN version of Peggle is that it’s the same game as the XBLA version. The only new features ..read more

Left 4 Dead 2 revives the zombie apocalypse with a breath of fresh air, new excitement and plenty of nonstop action. Last year’s multiplayer zombie killing bloodfest was plagued with dull level designs, lack of gameplay modes and an affinity for utilizing glitches to achieve victory in Versus mode. Thankfully Valve has fixed all of those problems, to great effect, and made Left 4 Dead 2 one of the best multiplayer games of the year.

It’s about that time of year again. Publishers put their pistols away and pull out the big guns. Now is the time where the wallets stop emptying, and the latest edition of Call of Duty marks of the signaling of the season. Modern Warfare 2 is one of the biggest releases of the season (arguably THE biggest release), and for good reason. Its predecessor was a smash success when it released in 2007, selling millions of copies and still ranking ..read more
Getting into a groove is definitely a must for any good episodic series, especially when you’re being sold the whole season at once. Sam & Max’s first season didn’t really start getting good until the last two episodes, which seems to have to their second season, Sam & Max Beyond Time and Space, starting off with a bang. While Sam & Max is quality throughout this season, it still lacks a good control scheme that fits the Xbox 360.

Forza Motorsport set out to become Microsoft’s flagship racing franchise. Its first incarnation on the original Xbox showed that developer Turn 10 was very much up to the task. In 2007 a sequel was released for the Xbox 360 and that took what worked in the original and expanded upon it in just about every way. What Turn 10 has done for Forza 3 is very similar. Unlike the progress from Forza 1 to ..read more
