Wow. I’ve not updated for ages. No real reason, just life getting in the way of the internet.

A big update will be here in the coming weeks, I’m going to try and bring the whole site together more rather than the blog feeling separate. There’ll be a bit of a new look, too.

Anyway, in the meantime Marvel Versus Capcom 3 has come out, it’s ridiculous and it’s very fun indeed. Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition is just over a week ..read more

SoCal Regionals just took place at the weekend. Anyone who is a big fan of Akuma is about to want to make little baby Tokidos.

Not only did Tokido come from Japan to enter SCR, not only did he enter under the handle “Tokido Murder Face”, but he did the most awesomely awesome thing in the history of awesome.

I’m not even going to try and explain it. Check out the video below:

So hype. I’m not going to get into ..read more

South African actor Sharlto Copley (he plays Wikus, the “fokkin prawns” guy in district 9 and is also an inspired bit of casting as Murdoch in the new A-Team movie) briefly mentioned Street Fighter 2 in a recent interview with Empire Magazine.

Season’s Beatings went ahead last weekend, October 15th to 17th. Teamspooky streamed the event, and it was bloody brilliant.

Aside from the quality of the stream itself, there were some incredibly hype matches, and the level of play was very high.

Spooky has now uploaded a ton of the matches from the stream to a new youtube account that was created especially for the event. Check it out at http://www.youtube.com/user/SeasonsBeatingsGDLK and feel the hype!

In the end Taiwan’s Gamerbee took 1st place for ..read more

Replay, an arcade/retro/video game expo is coming to Blackpool on the 6th/7th of November. And to top it off the organisers have been spreading the word that they’re going to be running a SSFIV tournament on the Saturday, and a Tekken tourney on the Sunday!

Apparently lots of the manc heads from neoempire are going to come along, so I’m going to head down and have a pop as well.

On top of that, the creator of IK+ is going to be ..read more

Super Versus Battle 2010 just took place in London this week, with over 8 different fighting games being played in tournament style over the full weekend. Unfortunately it doesn’t look like SVB have managed to come up with a stream, so we’re going to have to hope that most of it was recorded and will be uploaded in the coming days.

The big surprise of the weekend however seems to have been that Prodigal Son aka Ryan Hart managed to put ..read more

Let’s get straight to the point; Valve, makers of the Half Life series, Counterstrike, Team Fortress 2 and Portal have released a new game. The name of the game is Alien Swarm. It’s really good, and what’s more; it’s absolutely free.

Alien Swarm was originally a fan made mod for Unreal Tournament, and is now a standalone Steam-based game. It’s an almost-top-down 3D shooter with up to 4 players working in cooperation.

Each player gets to choose from 4 classes; Officer, Weapons ..read more

The first run of the European Console League happens next week in Liverpool.

The tournament runs from July 30th to August 1st. Games featured include COD4, Halo 3, GoW, Fifa 2010 and a little game called Super Street Fighter IV.

The Super tourney runs on the Saturday only, runs all day and now only costs £10 to enter! This is not too shabby considering that the original price for entering for SSFIV was £50.

That was dropped to £25 and then finally they ..read more

The arcade version of Super Street Fighter IV was recently confirmed by SF director Yoshinori Ono.

However, it was only yesterday that the very first Japanese location test of the arcade version was held. The following screenshot was taken at the loctest yesterday, and reveals that there are two new empty character slots at either side of the screen!

Click here to see the full photo!

All the buzz right now seems to mainly center on the new characters likely including Elena, R. ..read more

Fast unlocking of taunts and colors

Would you like to know how to unlock personal actions and colours in Super Street Fighter 4?

Then you’ve come to the right place!

The short version is this; start a versus match, player vs cpu.

As soon as the fight starts press start and return to the character select screen. Rinse and repeat.

Capcom Unity ran their playtest event for Super Street Fighter IV last night.

Players got to try out some of the new cast, as well as seeing what tweaks have been made to existing characters. The build being played yesterday was the one with the 4 blank character slots, so anyone worried about the recent post-famitsu stream pic with those 4 blank slots removed can now calm down.

Some of the new ultras were tested out by the community and uploaded to ..read more

Well, according to IGN the release date for Super Street Fighter IV will be March 31st 2010.

This has since been reflected on Amazon and Newegg, although no one really knows if they’re just taking IGN’s word for it.

The game is being listed at $39.99 for both PS3 and XBox 360 on Amazon.com. On Amazon.co.uk the pricing is coming in at £24.99 for PS3 and £29.99 for 360.

Hopefully that is remedied, seems a bit crap to be paying a fiver more ..read more

That’s right - two characters from Final Fight and the Alpha series, and Adon who’s technically from the first Street Fighter game have now been confirmed for Street Fighter IV!

Check out the screens here from Japanese magazine Famitsu - Cody and Adon - Guy.

A few sharp eyes around the net have also spotted a kunai dagger in the top right of the page featuring Guy. Apparently, one of the comments on the page in japanese states something along the lines ..read more
