The Star Fox series is one of Nintendo’s most popular trademarks, but none of the games in the series even come close to the experience that Star Fox 64 had.  Like The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D before it, Star Fox 64 has been given the 3D treatment, and the game is every bit as good as the original.

What Is It?

Star Fox is Nintendo’s answer to popular space franchises like Star Trek and Star Wars, but rather than ..read more

With pitchers and catchers having reported in mid-February, we have baseball video games to help tide us over until the regular MLB season begins. Unfortunately, MLB 2K11 decided to release a game they should send back down to the minors.

What’s It About?

With the NFL and NBA both threatening lockouts, Major League Baseball felt jealous of the massive attention. So the league called upon All Star pitcher Roy Halladay to rally the players together and threaten their own strike. What the ..read more

This was the scene at RedOctane’s funeral for the Air Guitar at the European launch of Guitar Hero II. Irony has a nasty way of coming back to at you, no?

With the Guitar Hero series being nixed by Activision, it seemed like a good time to look back at the various titles in the franchise and figure out what worked and where it started to go wrong. This is by no means a scientific study of mechanics ..read more

Yes, another Call of Duty game.  While Activision is giving gamers more than their fair share of the popular shooter franchise, year after year one thing remains clear:  they are always consistently great games with some of the best multiplayer components around.  That said, Treyarch has always been the step-child of Infinity Ward, developers of the Modern Warfare games, in terms of both manpower and media reception.  Pride aside, Treyarch continues to stand strong (while Infinity Ward is in a ..read more

Just a friendly post to let all of our readers out there know that we have not disappeared and are just recuperating from a long stretch of holiday gaming.

The holidays brought with it fun, tons of gaming, and sadly not enough free time.  The majority of us have real life jobs with real life responsibilities and there simply was not enough time to play games, write about them and keep this site routinely updated.  In the next few days, however, ..read more

Las Vegas has always been well known as the city to let everything go…where “what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.”  It is only fitting that the latest entry in the Fallout series heads west to the lights, glamour and mayhem of New Vegas, a city that was spared by the bombs that ravaged the rest of the country but was left fending for itself by prospectors, travelers and warring factions.  This is no summer vacation in luxurious casinos, lavish ..read more

Lucasarts took the bull by the horns back in 2008 when it released The Force Unleashed, a Star Wars title that many critics said had a better story than Episodes 1-3 and a dynamic fighting system that let you combine powerful Force attacks with acrobatic lightsaber maneuvers.  While fans gushed over the brilliant canon that The Force Unleashed brought into the Star Wars Universe, The Force Unleashed 2 is a padded mess, complete with boring levels, uneven difficulty and a ..read more

It’s been nearly four years since Capcom first unleashed hordes of zombies on the Xbox 360.  With an improved save system, exciting combo weapon features and an appearance on the PS3, does Dead Rising 2 finally live up to the hype or is it the same old game with just a few slight touch-ups?

What’s It About?

The zombie outbreak has broken away from the confines of Willamette Mall and reached Fortune City, a Las Vegas type playground where anything and everything ..read more

Neversoft has been plugging away at the Guitar Hero franchise for several years now. Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock marks their latest, and last game in the series. Is this a worthy entry for the franchise, or does it show signs of fatigue?

What’s It About?

The Demigod of Rock has been imprisoned in a stony tomb by The Beast. He is unable to fight, but can still influence events in the world. He calls out to prospective ..read more

When the Sega Dreamcast launched on September 9th 1999 it did so with a handful of games. Some of them were excellent arcade translations like Soul Calibur and Hydro Thunder, and others were less than stellar, like TrickStyle. The one game everyone seems to remember is Sonic Adventure. Eleven years later Sonic Adventure is now available for download via Xbox Live and PlayStation Network. Is it a good reminder of times past?

Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep is a marvel of a game and perhaps one of the best entries in the already long-running series.  As a standalone title,  Birth By Sleep excels in giving players a glance at events leading up to the original Kingdom Hearts, as well as shed some light on various events that were only briefly talked about in each of the games.  There is something about Birth By Sleep that really sticks with you, as the three ..read more

Well this is the way it finally ends. No, not the way it did with Halo 3. Not with any sense of uncertainty. Not with a chance of a spin-off focusing on a side group of soldiers. No, it ends with a cracked helmet dug halfway into the sand with a beautifully war-torn landscape adorning the background. Well, it ends only to start it all back again. Bungie’s final act of its Halo series is the end that begins a ..read more

While 2009 saw five Guitar Hero games released, two within three months of each other, the need for new titles in 2010 has some gamers feeling worn out.  But with new instruments (keyboard, advanced drum kit) and a new take on the Guitar Hero franchise, both Activision and Harmonix are looking to make 2010 the year that their respected franchises go beyond just simple button presses and branch out to include gamers of all ages.

With Dragon Age II quickly appearing on the horizon, Bioware has not yet ended the adventures of the Grey Warden in the original Origins storyline.  Although the previous quest with Leliana was charming fun, the latest trek through the underground city of Amgarrak is a complete waste of time.  With a forgettable story, dull characters and an insanely hard difficulty that will even have veteran players yelling in anger; Golems of Amgarrak is not worth the price of admission, even ..read more

When you think of the game BioShock, naturally many think of that underwater utopian society that tragically fell to the pressures of genetic splicing and the mind of Andrew Ryan.  While the sequel focused its sights on new characters and events, Bioshock still took place in the fallen city of Rapture, a beautifully created city filled with Big Daddies, Little Sisters and plenty of other dangerous things looking to kill you quickly.  But Irrational Games’ latest project is taking the ..read more
