E3 2010: Third Party 3DS Games You Simply Cannot Ignore

June 15th, 2010 | Categories: Smash Pad, Video Game Reviews

Amidst all the hype surrounding E3 2010 are huge first party announcements.  At Microsoft, we have the Kinect along with the new and improved Xbox 360.  With Sony, we have their interesting PlayStation Move, insane exclusive content, and their new premium online service.  And with Nintendo, we got the 3DS.

But while Iwata seemed to go on and on about all the support the 3DS is getting, he didn’t seem to get in-depth with the games worth mentioning, so feast your eyes on the titles that Nintendo forgot to announce.

The Sims 3 (Electronic Arts)

The Sims 3 is, without a doubt, one of the best games available on the PC.  With the seemingly high power of the Nintendo 3DS, The Sims is once again back in your pocket.  While this game is eventually going to end up on every platform, the menus make you wonder about the game’s 3D possibilities.

Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition (Capcom)

Street Fighter IV is one of two fighters bound for the 3DS.  While the system seems to tout graphics as its foray into the future, Street Fighter has always been a game about robust gameplay.  How will Capcom and Nintendo make the game work on the 3DS?  These developers have worked together before and have produced great results, but this is Capcom’s fighting baby here.

Dead or Alive 3D (Tecmo)

Dead or Alive.  The button-mashing, booby-bouncing franchise that has always made gamers question Tecmo’s allegiance.  This brawler has never once been featured on a Nintendo platform before, so it’s definitely an interesting partnership.  Nothing is certain, but this game should provide a lot of bouncy action… in 3D.

Kingdom Hearts (Square Enix)

Kingdom Hearts will always garner SOME attention.  Hell, it features Square Enix and Disney heroes and villians together to form one huge convoluted story that everyone at anime conventions seems to be addicted to.  Don’t quote us on anything, but it would be pretty cool if there was some comic book action.  It’s not like Disney owns Marvel or anything…

Resident Evil: Revelations (Capcom)

It’s time to get serious again.  This is Resident Evil, and it looks drop dead gorgeous.  It looks like Chris Redfield is back, and it looks like Claire is too.  There are a lot of possibilities with a Resident Evil game, 3D, and that new control stick Nintendo added on top of the directional pad, so this one looks like a keeper.  We’re just glad this one doesn’t have a “working title.”

Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater 3D: The Naked Sample (Konami)

This is the clincher.  Just when you thought Kojima was finally going to call it quits for Snake with MGS: Peace Walker (which we’ll have a review for as soon as we get back from LA) he gets excited over the 3DS and throws his name in to lead another production team for yet another Metal Gear Solid title.  Feast your eyes on those screenshots, because it looks to be your first taste of another Kojima epic.
