Deals and Freebies For The Weekend of February 13
I love to get a good deal on the games I’m interested in and it’s probably safe to assume that you may be interested in those kinds of things, too. So I wanted to share with you a few deals that started this week that you might want to check out. There is also a nice set of freebies from one of EA’s classic PC series that is seeing a new installment later this year.
The Indie Love Bundle (PC) – $20.00 – Expires Friday, February 19 at 11:59 AM EST
If you enjoy indie games and the unique experiences they can provide, this is a great bundle for you to grab. For $20, you can get six of the best indie games on the PC in recent memory (And Yet It Moves, Auditorium, Aztaka, Eufloria, Machinarium, and Osmos) and have a good variety of games to play. I’ve personally played everything but Aztaka and am almost tempted to buy this myself despite already owning a couple of these games. You can get demos from all of their official websites, which are listed with the information when you click on the screenshots. They are even offering Mac and Linux versions of some of these games, so those of you without a PC might still have a way to enjoy these games.
Trine (PS3) – $9.99 – Expires Thursday, February 18
Trine is an action platformer starring a wizard, knight, and thief that are merged into one body, so you must switch between them to use their unique abilities to get through the various obstacles you will come across. This is a very good game that managed to take a bit longer than anyone expected to make it to the PS3, but at $9.99, this is the best time to get the game if you haven’t already. In addition to the single-player, there is three-player co-op, which this version may be better suited for for that feature than PC for some of you. There is a demo on PSN that you can play to try it out first, but anybody that likes The Lost Vikings and other games of that style may find a lot to like of this game.
Command & Conquer Classics – Free – Tiberian Dawn, Tiberian Sun, & Red Alert
With Command & Conquer 4 coming out in March, EA is offering Command & Conquer fans a free look into the series’ past with the release of Tiberian Dawn and its Firestorm expansion pack, Tiberian sun, and the first Red Alert as freeware on the official Command & Conquer site. Just looking at the screenshots tells me that these are from an older generation of RTS games, when 3D wasn’t the norm for the genre. These may not be for me, but I’m sure there are plenty of Command & Conquer fans out there that need an excuse to play or replay these old games and new players that might become a fan just in time for Command & Conquer 4’s release.
