To give some background on Dead Rising 2, Capcom and Blue Castle Games has been working on an XBLA prologue for their upcoming sequel to the popular zombie sandbox game. Dead Rising 2: Case Zero offers a quick look into what you should expect from Dead Rising 2 as you get to explore a remote desert town that is infested with zombies, which is a good proof of concept and is well worth the $5 for this XBLA ..read more
Super Versus Battle 2010 just took place in London this week, with over 8 different fighting games being played in tournament style over the full weekend. Unfortunately it doesn’t look like SVB have managed to come up with a stream, so we’re going to have to hope that most of it was recorded and will be uploaded in the coming days.
The big surprise of the weekend however seems to have been that Prodigal Son aka Ryan Hart managed to put ..read more
While 2009 saw five Guitar Hero games released, two within three months of each other, the need for new titles in 2010 has some gamers feeling worn out. But with new instruments (keyboard, advanced drum kit) and a new take on the Guitar Hero franchise, both Activision and Harmonix are looking to make 2010 the year that their respected franchises go beyond just simple button presses and branch out to include gamers of all ages.
The selling point of both games ..read more
With Dragon Age II quickly appearing on the horizon, Bioware has not yet ended the adventures of the Grey Warden in the original Origins storyline. Although the previous quest with Leliana was charming fun, the latest trek through the underground city of Amgarrak is a complete waste of time. With a forgettable story, dull characters and an insanely hard difficulty that will even have veteran players yelling in anger; Golems of Amgarrak is not worth the price of admission, even ..read more
Though Gamescom hasn’t been a place for many publishers to make big announcements, Sony has followed up their PS3 Slim and price drop announcements at 2009′s Gamescom Convention in Cologne, Germany with two big games announcements from Insomniac Games and some other interesting bits of news during their press conference today. What can you get for $2.50 these days? A pack of chips? A cup of coffee? How about a potentially limitless amount of replay value? Would you be willing to pay $2.50 to expand a game that already offers hundreds of hours of fun with even more content? That’s the question Zen Studios is asking with their add-on tables for Zen Pinball. Coming up I’ll go through the five add-on tables that have been ..read more
When you think of the game BioShock, naturally many think of that underwater utopian society that tragically fell to the pressures of genetic splicing and the mind of Andrew Ryan. While the sequel focused its sights on new characters and events, Bioshock still took place in the fallen city of Rapture, a beautifully created city filled with Big Daddies, Little Sisters and plenty of other dangerous things looking to kill you quickly. But Irrational Games’ latest project is taking the ..read more
We’ve known for a few months now that GameStop has been planning to upgrade the Edge card program into a fleshed-out rewards program, but it has only been in a testing phase in a few areas within Ohio, Tennessee, and Minnesota until now. I was told by some clerks at the local GameStop that they would be switching people over to the PowerUp Rewards program tonight during the midnight launch of Madden NFL 11, which I can confirm when I ..read more
Madden and the Wii; it’s a match made in heaven. The Wii is the best-selling console in the United States, and Madden has always been the best selling sports game for quite a few years now. Year after year, EA Sports has done what they can to make the Wii version of the game stand out, and this year’s entry stands out once again, with emphasis being put upon what’s arguably the most important mode in the entire series.

With the NFL Hall of Fame ceremonies beginning to fade out, the pre-season has just begun and with that comes another year of Madden football. The release of Madden is always one of the most anticipated releases every summer, and it’s not a surprise considering the sport’s growing popularity. While the league may be entering a lot of uncertainty going into next season—we do know one thing for certain and that’s whether or not this year’s version of the game ..read more
We always like to see developers reward their fans with free things, even before their latest game has even come out. Shank developer Klei Entertainment spread word earlier today that they would release the soundtrack for their upcoming XBLA and PSN brawler once the amount of fans on their Facebook page surpassed 1500 fans. The only problem is that Klei underestimated the response they would get, so the soundtrack was not ready for release when they passed 1500 fans. While you ..read more

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and DC Entertainment wasted no time today in revealing the latest sequel to 2009’s critically acclaimed action-adventure title, Batman: Arkham Asylum. Rocksteady’s title saw Batman return to dominant form, and alongside polished visuals, superb voice acting, and a steady dose of investigating and brutal pummeling, Arkham Asylum proved to be one of the best titles of last year.
Well now fans have a reason to get excited for 2011 as Batman: Arkham City is now confirmed and ..read more
I can easily say that ModNation Racers is a very good kart racing game that offers great user-creation tools that are easy to use and the actual racing mechanics are fun with a lot of stuff to do both offline and online, so when we saw the lengthy load times that came with it, it was kind of like having a delicious cake with icing that is extremely thick and too sweet. To give you an idea of ..read more
For those of you who have played through Alan Wake you probably know of the obscure and “open to interpretation” ending the developers said will leave gamers talking. Perhaps this was a brilliant marketing strategy by Remedy to release sets of downloadable content to enhance the story of Alan Wake and possibly reveal answers that so many gamers are scouring online for. While The Signal is an adrenaline filled fight to the finish, the story is as confusing as ever, ..read more
The Dragon Quest series has been a raging hit on the Japanese shores for quite sometime. The series is considered to be the format that most stereotypical RPG’s, Final Fantasy included, have been following to a tee. When the much-anticipated 9th entry to the series was announced for release on the Nintendo DS, fans had mixed reactions. Would a handheld Dragon Quest be a step down from the critically acclaimed 8th game on the PS2?
Luckily for Square Enix, the Dragon ..read more
The Metal Gear Solid series is one that will always go through heavy scrutiny, due to the fact that its sought-after narrative is so intricately connected that the slightest discrepancy can throw off the entire plot. The series has combined top-notch storytelling, a platform-defining presentation, and tight controls to boot. So when Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker was announced, one can bet that it turned a few heads.
Peace Walker takes place shortly after the events of Metal Gear Solid 3: ..read more
Sin & Punishment was the best Nintendo 64 game you’ve never played. This statement should probably ring true, especially since the game never made in stateside before its release on the Wii’s Virtual Console a couple years back.
The game was a 3D on-rails shooter in the vein of Star Fox 64 that featured nothing but on-foot action. Developed by the hardcore gaming veterans at Treasure, responsible for cult hits like Ikaruga and Gunstar Heroes, Sin & Punishment became a cult-hit ..read more
When we first heard of a multiplayer-focused Castlevania game slated to come out as an XBLA game during this year’s Summer of Arcade, we were skeptical to see whether or not the tried and true action/adventure style could work as a multiplayer game. For the most part, Castlevania: Harmony of Despair works, though the game does have a few rough edges.
First and foremost, we need to establish that this game really doesn’t have much of a story ..read more
